Description

Multifunction Envelope Generator

The Pittsburgh Modular Envelope is a complex multi-stage envelope generator with voltage controllable rise and fall. Using the sustain switch to toggle between modes, the Envelope functions as either a 2 stage attack-decay envelope or a 3 stage attack-sustain-release envelope.

The Envelope response for rise and fall is continually adjustable between logarithmic, linear, and exponential allowing for precision envelope shaping. Cycle times range from .8ms or 1250Hz at the shortest to at the longest.

This module is incredibly versatile.  It can perform as a

  • Voltage Controlled Envelope Generator
  • Voltage Controlled Slewing (Portamento)
  • Envelope Follower
  • VCO and Voltage Controlled LFO
  • VC pulse delay
  • VC wave shaper

ENVELOPE CONTROLS:

LINEAR RISE / LOG RISE SWITCH – Determines the response type of the rise portion of the envelope. Set to linear, the response is always linear. Set to log, the response is assigned using the Rise CV In attenuator. Full left offers a logarithmic response, setting the knob to 12 o’clock provides a linear response, and turning the knob full right results in an exponential response.

RISE CONTROL KNOB – Adjusts the rise time of the envelope.

RISE CV IN ATTENUATOR – Multifunction attenuverter used to attenuvert incoming Rise CV. Turning the knob left of 12 o’clock results in attenuated inverted CV. At 12 o’clock, the CV response is off. Turning the knob to the right of 12 o’clock results in attenuated CV.

SUSTAIN ON/OFF SWITCH – Changes the envelope response. Set to off (left), the envelopes functions as an attack-decay envelope generator. Set to on (right), the envelope functions as an attack-sustain-release envelope generator.

LINEAR FALL / LOG FALL SWITCH –  Determines the response type of the fall portion of the envelope. Set to linear, the response is always linear. Set to log, the response is assigned using the Fall CV In attenuator. Full left offers a logarithmic response, setting the knob to 12 o’clock provides a linear response, and turning the knob full right results in an exponential response.

FALL CONTROL KNOB – Adjusts the fall time of the envelope.

FALL CV IN ATTENUATOR – Multifunction attenuverter used to attenuvert incoming Rise CV. Turning the knob left of 12 o’clock results in attenuated inverted CV. At 12 o’clock, the CV response is off. Turning the knob to the right of 12 o’clock results in attenuated CV.

CYCLE ON/OFF SWITCH – Set to on (up), the envelope.

OSCILLATOR PATCH POINTS:

RISE CV IN – Rise CV input.

BOTH CV IN – Rise and fall CV input.

FALL CV IN – Fall CV input.

SIGNAL INPUT – Main signal input.

END OF ATTACK OUT – Gate signal output. Signal goes high at end of rise.

TRIGGER OUT – Trigger output. Trigger created at end of fall.

SIGNAL OUT – Main signal output.
